walk-the-line

Did you leave after hearing Sunday’s message and think, “Well, now what?” Each Sunday, we will provide a discussion guide for our church body designed to create a conversation about what we’re learning. We encourage you to prayerfully gather with your family, friends and community group and dive into how to apply Sunday’s teaching from God’s Word to your life.

  1. Todd said, “Just like you can tell where people are from by listening to their tongue (accent) If we have an abiding relationship with Christ, people should immediately know where you are from.” What does that look like in your life? One major evidence that you have been transformed by Christ is that you control your tongue. How can your community group help you do that? Read Eph 5:18-21 and list out the three characteristics of a person “filled with the Spirit”.
  2. According to James 3:8, how many of us are able to tame the tongue? How does that encourage or discourage you? How does the reminder of Luke 1:37 encourage you and inform how we live out Col 3:5-10?
  3. What should we do if we find ourselves in trouble because of our tongue? Proverbs 6:2-5?
  4. How do the truths of 1 Timothy 4:7-16 help you tame your tongue? Which one(s) should your community group and you be working on this week?

What was one truth that stood out to you from today’s message? Leave a comment below and let us know!
