Have you heard?! We are participating as a church in Operation Christmas Child this year, and it’s time to start packing those shoeboxes to send around the world!
You can watch this video to see more about the impact Samaritan’s Purse has around the world through the ministry of Operation Christmas Child:
We’ve been selling some plastic boxes for $1 each in all of our children’s ministry locations Sunday mornings, and we’ll continue doing that until we run out! The turn in dates are Sunday, November 30 and Sunday December 7 at Watermark.
Never packed a box before? Here’s a list of frequently asked questions over at the OCC website. They even list specific directions for how to pack a shoebox!
As you pack a box or a few boxes with your family this year, be sure to engage with God’s word at the same time. This is a great opportunity to discuss why we serve those who are less fortunate, or how we can be thankful for what God has given us. Pray over each box and pray for the child who will receive it! Pray that this child will come to know Jesus and the hope Jesus can bring!
We’ve got tons of ideas of how to make this a meaningful Christmas tradition in your family; check out the Family discipleship guide our external focus team put together all about Operation Christmas Child!
Also… did we mention we’ve got a little competition going on in our elementary ministries? When you turn in your boxes, make sure you fill out a “Fear the Beard” card (you can pick some up Sunday morning) to mark it for your ministry.
Happy packing!
