Jesus once told a parable about a Pharisee who stood in the temple and prayed, "God, I thank you that I am not like other men" (Luke 18:11). In these verses of Romans, Paul is hitting each of us with the challenge that there might be a little of that Pharisee in each of us. This lesson encourages us to examine how we judge others, to understand God's character as the perfect judge of men, and that because thankfulness for the gift of salvation we seek to change.
