Re:generation Women's Coordinator

Meet Jessa

I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico (no, I have not seen Breaking Bad) but moved to Dallas when I was five years old. Most of my large extended family still lives in New Mexico, so I try to go back as frequently as I can for my family and New Mexican food fix.

I grew up in Dallas going to church on Sundays and trying to be a pretty good kid. I was fond of God and even believed some good core truths about His goodness and sovereignty, but otherwise “church” was just a Sunday event. As I got older, I started to prioritize relationships, athletics, and performance so much that they were the only things that made me feel worthy or loved. My sophomore year of high school was full of a lot of family hardships and struggle with mental health. A good friend took me out for tacos and shared how Jesus loved me and chose me even in my sin, but it was my decision to follow him or not. The decision I made that day changed my life forever!

I went off to college at the University of Missouri (M-I-Z!) and was discipled by a sweet friend. She helped me grow through reading the Bible, confessing sin and pressing into fellowship like I never had. I felt like God wanted me to do ministry after college, so when the opportunity to serve in Southeast Asia came up, I took it!

I came back to the States after five years in 2021 to do the Watermark Institute and attend Dallas Theology Seminary to study Biblical Counseling. I love sitting with people in the deep waters and hard parts of life.

In my spare time you can catch me reading any book I can get my hands on (recommendations welcome!), crying at art museums, traveling to new countries (29 and counting!), getting some time in the sun or going to Dallas Stars games. Let’s go Stars!!
