Meet Doug
I was born on a military base in Heerlen, Netherlands but after my parents’ divorce, spent most of my childhood in Abilene, Texas. We went to Catholic Church and for most of my life, I believed that doing good things and following all the rules would be enough to get me to heaven.
After I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler (Go Pats!) in 2014, I started working at a local waterpark in Nacogdoches, Texas. In the summer of 2014, I went to an event called Finish Strong where I clearly heard the gospel for the first time and the first time I understood that I didn’t need to earn God’s love and that I am already loved by Him.
Shortly after, I moved to Dallas in 2016 and found Watermark through the young adults ministry called The Porch. I went through re:generation, a twelve-step recovery ministry at Watermark, after hearing so many confessions of sin on stage and realizing the hurts, habits, and hangs up I needed to surrender over to the Lord.
I am stoked to serve the body behind the scenes with the Finance Team. Though I am mainly behind the scenes in regard to operations I love connecting with people and developing relationships.
I have been married to my beautiful bride, Dyann, since April of 2019. In my free time, you can find me running marathons, brunching with my wife, playing board games, and enjoying the outdoors.
