Meet Ashley

I grew up in McKinney, TX and am grateful that thanks to faithful parents and countless other believers in my community that poured into me, I cannot remember a time without knowing the Lord. After several conversations with my parents when I was seven, they realized I meant business when I finally asked, “What happens to little girls when their parents won’t let them ask Jesus into their heart?” This gave them the confidence that even at a young age, I truly desired to enter into a relationship with him.

While my love for and knowledge of Jesus grew, it wasn’t until I was in college at Baylor University that I realized a crucial piece was missing- the discontentment and distance I began to feel with the Lord was due to my unwillingness to give him all of me. My grip on the fleeting things of this world and desires of the flesh that I had held on to so tightly began to loosen as I saw that in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). If I wanted to experience this, I had to live out Luke 9:23-24: “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

After working as a Middle School Teacher for several years, God grew my heart to love his people in a new, deeper way as he called me into ministry at Watermark.
